A die chip can be anywhere on the coin, a Cud is on the rim.
Some collectors will refer to any chip as a Cud, but the excepted definition of a Cud must be on the rim.

Im thinking your coin may have taken a hit there and pushed metal over .
A Cud is a die chip or break that includes the rim. A die chip is just that on the interior.

The opposite side of a Cud will usually show weakness in the strike from the lack of pressure on the other side.
I was looking at the hit also, but I couldn't decide for sure what it was. If you look closely, you will see a line where the rim is. You won't see that on a Cud.

To me it appears like a fold over fin or something struck onto the coin during the strike? I see the hit on the coin, but the area in question is wider than just a dent into the coin. Can you see under the fold?
