to ccf Montana coin girl!... we're glad to have you! What I'm seeing is it looks like the beak took a good hard hit sometime in its life displacing some metal. Or it could be a die chip. Clearer pictures will tell.
I recommend you put a thin shirt or piece of paper between the coin and light source. This will help you get MUCH better pics. It looks like it took a hit but we need better pics to tell for sure.
Consider what a die is and how minting works. The missing area on the beak is a void on the die, a negative, so in order for this feature to appear from the Mint, something somehow had to "fill that hole" strongly enough to stand up to 150 tons of striking pressure. This is kind of difficult to imagine from such a small area, so the obvious conclusion is whatever it is, it happened postmint.
