Hello everyone. I would like grades and opinions on my latest acquisition. It is an 1840 N-3 R.1 Grellman Die State C.
Thank you in advance.

Well, that is a nice cent. I am seeing fairly smooth surfaces, which appear original, and nicely toned. Only minimal surfaces disturbance and importantly none in the focal areas. Just the right amount of debris amongst the devices.
Concerning the grade, slight wear on the high points with good eye appeal. Overall an attractive cent which I grade EAC AU50.
That probably was not cheap!

It is not yet xf45. It could very well have been, but I think it is AU50.

Fantastic cent.
Original, great toning, stellar eye appeal and is a very cool die break. I like it.
EAC grade is EF40 and TPG is AU50 for me.

That's a nice one. I would say it's a VF35 by EAC grading standards. Probably a XF45 or AU50 by TPG grading. I've never learned TPG grading on large cents and have always used EAC standards.

I myself have graded this coin EAC 40 or an EF-45 market grade. The coin has tons of eye appeal in hand and the color and surface are great. It does show high point wear but you have to understand that the "Petite Head" coins have slightly different wear patterns than the "Mature Heads" of 1843 on.
I probably spent a bit too much on this coin but I just had to buy it.
All my CCF pals can appreciate that.
Thanks everyone

That is a nice piece, which I graded it a bit higher at AU50.
These middle to later date cents are becoming a new passion of mine!

I'll go with AU50, only seeing minimal wear. Some circulation wear is allowed on AU coins .

Beautiful coin, very nice pickup. Sorry Celtic, a bit late to the party, a lot going during summer.
