Well, I got some more food from the pizza joint where I spent $2 bills a few times, and this time, I tipped the driver with some change, and I said "There are two halves in that change" and he said "Dude! What do you get all of these $2 bills and half dollar "bills" and I said, "Don't you mean half dollar "coins" and he said "Yeah, because I seriously took the first $2 bills to the bank to be chacked, because I seriously thought you had a printing press set up in your basement or something" and I said, "No, I get them ordered every month to go get some out each month. Banks and credit unions can order $2 biills, halves and dollar coins" and he said "Yeah, my car is loaded with those golden dollars. I collect them" After a little more chit chat, he left.

Now I thought "Geez, the guy thought I had a printing press for $2 bills and coin dies for minting my own halves in my basement? Wow!

My uncle once found a fake half dollar which he cracked open- turned out somebody had taken a real one, cut the copper out of the core, and replaced it with- guess what- an old-style British large penny! Sounds like someone didn't know what that penny was made of. It probably contained more copper than he took out of the coin.

With regards to the original post, I don't spend $2 notes that often, but when I do, I love seeing how people react. I honestly don't understand why people think they are so great. I recently lent one to a friend who forgot his lunch money, and he asked me if I really wanted to spend it.

I was a little disappointed that I got absolutely no reaction last year when I spent a $2 bill in a Subway restaurant in Florida, and another in the duty free shop at Miami airport!
