Hey guys,

Could you give your grading for that coin before I submit it to PCGS. Thanks

Harriet

Looks maybe XF-AU, hard to tell from the pics,
not sure it's worth getting slabbed..

AU-53 to AU-55. Nice coin. Not sure I see the DD reverse, but my doubled die knowledge is evolving to say the least so don't go by me on that. Good Luck with it!

The coin looks AU and possibly cleaned in these photos. I'm not convinced this is the major doubled die reverse variety for the year; maybe it's just the photos aren't sharp enough. Possibly there are less dramatic DDR types out there and this is one of those. Examine E PLURIBUS UNUM carefully, especially the letters LU and UM. The doubling should be more obvious than what I'm seeing in your images. Here are shots of my VF example of the true DDR:

If you don't have the major DDR it probably wouldn't make sense to pay to have it graded.

I collect 1946 DDR walkers as it is one of my favorite coins.( my avvy is a 46DDR) I have posted a few in the past here on CCF, 2 Came back certified at MS-64. I have quite a few in lesser grades. In my opinion the coin is not a DDR FS-801.

I do not see any indication of doubling in the other areas or even in "E PLURIBUS UNUM". I hope I am wrong, but I think your chances are slim.

Sorry, Just trying to save you some $$$.

Thanks a lot guys for your replies.
I decided to let the coin go and sell it on ebay, whoever is interested, go to http://stores.ebay.com/harriettravels and bid. Its a nice coin to have, we just try to lighten our luggage before heading to Asia.
