Well the CCAC lives up to a predictable decision to pick an awful design...the dollar is simply bizzare. Images currently on Coin World.

You didn't include a link. I'm assuming it is this one? https://www.coinworld.com/news/nati...lf-doll.html

I am sure everyone was clamoring for a coin featuring a tour bus! Dinosaur skeleton reverse is pretty neat, though.

It could be better, could be worse. I love the dino though.

I will hold final judgment when the coin comes out. The artist renditions are always lacking full impact. I am always more impressed when I see the actual coin.

Yikes, I didn't see the silver dollar. Maybe that's what the OP meant. It is seriously odd and totally unrelated to the NPS.

The gold one is what I would expect for a National Park Service commemorative and of course I won't be able to afford that one:

Yeah, I hate to say it but the half and dollar designs are bad.

The reverse with the dinosaur skeleton would have been nicely paired up with a vista of a National Park where such fossils are found or something to that effect. And for the dollar, I would have pushed for a fire watch tower on the obverse with a reverse dedication to the men and women of the NPS.

It's too bad my artistic talents are limited to stick figures and v shaped birds.

Okay, I find the dollar interesting, but agree that it may not be true to the theme.

What I think they should do is make it glow in the dark ...... have the skin on the dinosaur in the light and them have the skeleton glow through in the dark .........oh wait

Clearly they are trying to appeal to kids and school children. The cupro-nickel half dollars are cheap enough for young numismatists to buy for themselves and parent to gift their kids with. Who doesn't like dinosaurs ?

The image changed today with a corrected obverse on the clad half dollar. It's a little better. https://www.coinworld.com/content/d...d_Merged.jpg

I'm glad I didn't the previous obverse on the clad half dollar because that one looks awful. Both sides of the silver dollar look awful too. I really like the looks of the gold $5. If they can't come up with good designs for both sides of a coin, they just shouldn't make it.

Well at least we have the circulating NP Quarters. Those have all been pretty good designs.

They could have done a lot better without the "cave drawing" Stick figures. They could have improved it by making them a bit more cave drawing like.
