Very interesting coin that I have been searching for the past week. Finally came across this and am going to purchase it within the week. Unless, of course, some one decides to buy it before then. How do you think it would grade? Edited by Pytellc 06/17/2015 5:50 pm

I'm looking at it on my phone, but it looks like a solid xf-au to me...
1940-a 10 pfennig is the most common of this series, right?
I know these can REAL expensive for certain dates...

I believe it is the most common, yes. Most third reich coins with the "A" mint mark (Berlin) is, at least, relatively common because it was their primary mint. Once you get to B-G, they become rarer and, therefore, more valuable.
There is a 1940-D 10 Reichskreditkassen en route to me house as we speak. Those are a little more scarce, but it was still affordable because I traded for it rather than purchasing it.

Nice coin and I agree with that EF-AU range.

Nice looking. So many have white corrosion spots.

I've been trying to find similar ones that have sold on ebay, but cannot find any this high grade. The lower graded examples I just saw in my search for a value, have sold for $30-$50. NGC, however, has it at $40 in AU, which I think this pretty low.

As a comparison, the following example is the same coin, but graded MS-63:

Hello guys, I just registered after searching through google and came across this post. I am an avid reichskreditkassen collector, even though I haven't been collecting for all that long (23 years old). I saw that coin on ebay the other day and thought it was a relatively good deal at that price, I'd buy it! Pytellc you mentioned you have a 1940 10 D, is this correct? Or did you mean 1940 5 D, which is a lot less rare. IF you have the 1940 10 D, congrats. That is a very impressive coin to own and I currently do not own one. My collection comprises of nearly all the 5 denominations except for 1941 F and 1940 G. Conversly, my 10 denominations are severely lacking, and am missing 1940 D, E, F and 1941 F. I routinely buy off ebay and find the best deals for these coins will come on ebay. But to truly get the rarer ones, you'll have to get them from European auction houses. If you have any questions about values you can't find from acsearch.info let me know! I could probably help.

Ahh, I thought that coin you pictured was another one I recently saw on ebay. I remembering seeing that coin pictured in your first post, but don't remember the price. I'd value that coin at 50-60 USD.

Very interesting commentary on all of this, anyone have a good link for some additional information on the history of these?
