I've been keeping such banknotes for a while. All of them are in circulated condition.

If they aren't worth too much more, I might as well spend them.

Being first prefix, yes. I think how much more depends on the year though - anything from the last five years probably not a lot as the Reserve Bank has been selling them for a small premium so anyone who wants one probably already has one.

Circulated condition arn't going to be much over face value (if at all)

The only exception would be if the serial number was interesting (high, low, radar, repeater etc) or some of the 90s notes are rare even in circulated condition.
