Hey guys!

So back in '94 I was still green behind the ears and decided to go off on my own. I decided I would spend a year in Oz. I can say with certainty that it was a fantastic experience and I loved every minute of it.

I really wasn't into collecting that much then, and I was on a pretty tight budget... but I did manage to bring one note and some fairly well used coins back home to remind me of my stay.

I was just looking at this site "noble numismatics" and became pretty nostalgic thinking of my time in Oz and I was also thinking I really should do something proper and get a nice piece or two as well as some other interesting coins that would remind me of a year that had such a fantastic impact in my life.

I spent most of my time down in Melbourne and even managed to play a full season of "footy" with a team in North Kew. I still have that ball as well as a few other momentos tucked away.. but I love to display my coins and I think I should have a little bit of an Oz connection.

This is where I may need your help... I'd really like a '94 set... But I would also like to pick up perhaps a few other coins and tokens... nothing too high end just nice and interesting conversational pieces.

But here in Canada there isn't ANY dealer I know if that carries anything nice from Oz. I was hoping that there may be someone that could suggest a few good dealers/stores that would ship to canada.. or perhaps auction houses.. or if you yourself have an ebay store or stuff on the CCF buy and sell.. perhaps let me know in this thread and I would really like to check out what's out there.

Just writing this message makes me think back... and want to import a slab of Vic Bitter (VB) back here as well.. *sigh*

Thank you for your time and any helpful input you may provide..

Problem is I'm not really a big fan of buying things from those I have no association with off the bay.... sometimes there can just be a complete lack of professionalism.. if that makes any sence... and who knows perhaps some one from this forum has a few items they'd like to sell or trade.. win win I say!

I have known Jim Noble of Noble Numismatics for decades.
Noble Numismatics is a (usually) high end auctioneer and dealer.
For your current requirements though, I would suggest you
Google I.S. Wright or
'downies'.
Email trout 1105 (CCF member), he may have a few better ideas than me. He is also a good mate of mine.

Actually, I think that Hahn Premium Light is a nicer drop.

Hey thanks for the heads up! I'm not in any rush.. lord knows I do almost everything at a tortoise pace already... but it was an idea that got in my head.

I recently looked at nobel numismatics b/c of another thread on this forum... then got hit with a flash of memories and that's when I decided I really should get something that would be a conversational piece but also addresses my affinity towards this hobby.

AG Downies is very reputable and they used to ship from an office in the US Not sure if they still do ?. Are you looking for a 1994 single special coin or a set either UNC or Proof ?

In '95 when I came back I looked into playing some how.. but where I live... the game just doesn't exist, nor is there any type of population that will support it at this time.. yet... unfortunately...

But wow what a great game! Love it!

I was there during the days of Gary Ablett ... he was a great player to watch.. so I guess you could say I liked Geelong.. but I was also a North melbourne supporter....

Now the NFL is okay.. but if you can get a chance.. the CFL (canadian game) in my opinion is a much better game... the players clearly are not as good as any really good player goes to the NFL for the $$ but the rules in CFL are a bit better.. encourages a lot more aggressive play b/c there's only 3 downs instead of 4.. the field is much wider and longer and the receivers and backs can all go in motion..

Where in Canada are you from? I'm originally from Ottawa and head back every two years or so, if you're in that area I can always bring stuff back for you.

Thank you that is a very kind gesture.. but I live in Winnipeg... east to west it's really smack dab in the middle of the country... but geographically it's also close to nothing... a 20 minute drive in any direction in this city will most likely yield a view that would allow you to see your dog running away for 3 days. (local way of saying... it's very flat and there's nothing to see for miles)

Once again in no rush but thought I would put it out here on this board and hopefully someone work with me on this... I'm sure something will come up....
