Beautiful error (Australian 5 cent) coin. But, is the seller out of his mind asking $55,000 or is it worth that to someone else?

Errors can be expensive, but not that expensive. I'd reckon a few hundred, tops, for a double strike like that.

From experience, Australian errors seem to command a healthy premium, over similar errors from other countries. I would suspect an error like that to be more than double your estimate Sap, my first guess was $500 to $600, in my humble opinion.

double struck $2 make 2k to 3k now this would be worth 3k to 5k as its rarer then the double struck $2 these are now well into the 3k marks at sales and auctions so the 5 its a ripper but like I said mate it brings him some internet traffic

I'm with Sap. These aren't common but not $55K uncommon.
