Most of us know that their pricing is a little high. I buy some of their showpacks as they become available on ebay.

My question is if I call them up and make say a $100 size order. Would they be willing to negotiate their prices any?

It never hurts to try but don't be disappointed if Littleton won't negotiate.

You would be much better off dealing with a local dealer that you've developed a business relationship with, or by buying at a coin show where just about everything on the bourse floor is negotiable.

Good luck!

Actually I bought a Littleton Showpack at my local dealer for $19 it was a silver eagle.

If anything I'm interested in their high relief Peace dollar showpacks I got a watch list up on ebay but I have never seen any come through

Littleton sucks. Okay, it's not that bad, but the prices are ludicrous. I dont think they would negotiate. Before I go, can I offer you in a circulated 1964 dime for $12? https://www.littletoncoin.com/webap...7400%7C10040

Over many years, Littleton has primarily made its money pitching to amateur collectors and people with little knowledge. That remains their main customer base.

This company runs national ads that appeal to those who want to dabble in coin collecting. Their ad campaign, marketing strategy, has to be costly. The company pays well, comparatively, for coins that they buy. Their coins that grade good will usually be G-6/7, close to VG. Quality standards are high, and the novice customers have to support the advertising budget. IMHO, savvy, advanced collectors will likely want to avoid Littleton and find better buys elsewhere.

Well said, agree completely. Littleton is like one of those companies that used to advertise on the back of comic books.

*sheepishly raises hand*

I was one of those clueless youngsters that bought from Littleton back in the 1970s until I discovered coin shows.

Littleton is a gateway drug. Some people go on to get hooked for real. Some people think Littleton walks on water. Some people get turned off the whole hobby when they figure out they've massively overspent.

Not sure if the hooked are enough to counterbalance the other two

I bought from them on approval back in the early 1980's. Despite above average prices, the coins were nice and filled the holes. There was no nearby coin shop and this fueled my desire to expand my collecting beyond searching pocket change.

However, they were a hard habit to break. I had to move to another state to end the approval service.

No question Littleton is at the top of this heap; their stuff is usually first-class even if overpriced. Further down the pile are other outfits, like G&F Galleries, that offer bulk lots "at tremendous savings over retail" to unsuspecting amateurs.
