Hello! I just bought a 1963 proof Franklin half for $25 (free shipping!) slabbed my NGC as PF-66. Now, this is a coin I would not normally buy as it is in the old NGC holder and it has a few small fingerprints. However, it looks like it has some cameo. So, when I go to the World's Fair of Money I might re-sumbit this coin to get a cameo designation. Do you think I should re-submit it?

That us a fantastic price! You might get a higher grade if you do re submit it. You might also get cameo. Wait for the cameo experts though.

IMO, resubmitting it would be a waste of money as your submission costs would exceed any possible increase in value. Numismedia lists a 66 @$30 while a 66CAM is only $45, there is also the chance that the fingerprints will be cause for a downgrade to 65

The cost is not worth it.

Looks like a cameo, but like biokemist6 said, not worth resubmitting.
Rest in Peace

The fingerprints kill this coin.
"Buy the coin not the slobbered slab."
Thanks Bigg Fredd, May he rest in peace.
Child of the wheat, this is a reference from a former CCF member.

three comments:

- I never purchase proofs/cameos on-line.

The prevailing average photography skills in the general marketplace necessary to accurately capture the intrinsic luster of these types of coins are often not adequately refined enough to portray a specimen as if it were in one's hands.

- Unless a slabbed coin retails for at least $ 120 I'll never engage PCGS or NGC. My time is worth something and as the years pass on I find in retrospect that I could have spent my time in a much more productive manner to more effectively increase ROI (return on investment)

- Because a fingerprint on this type of proof surface can at best stay the same or worse become more noticeable (micro etching from amino acids etc) over time, I shy away.

IMO
