LOL... I noticed he keeps calling it 1990 when it's 1999. Hey, a fellow can dream, can't he?

THE DATE ON THIS CONNECTICUT COIN HAS BEEN FORGOTTEN. INSTEAD OF THE REGULAR DATE OF 1999, THERE STANDS A LONELY 9. THE 1990 PORTION HAS BEEN FORGOTTEN BY THE DIE PRESS DUE TO GREASE THAT IS USED TO CLEAN THE DIE. THE GREASE SOMETIMES IS NOT COMPLETELY CLEANED OFF CAUSING THIS ERROR. IT IS ONE OF THE FIRST OF THE State Quarters AND ONE OF THE LAST COINS OF THE 90'S. IF YOU LOOK CLOSE YOU WILL NOT SEE ANYTHING RAISED OF THE 1990 IT IS PERFECTLY SMOOTH, NOTHING SHOWS THROUGH AT ALL. IT IS SO PERFECT I HAD TO HAVE IT GRADED. I HAD IT GRADED NOT FOR THE GRADE ITSELF BUT TO VERIFY THAT IT IS REAL AND NOT A FORGERY. I HAVE HAD THIS COIN FOR OVER 10 YEARS NOW AND HAVE HAD IT GRADED FOR THIS SALE. GREASE ERRORS ARE CONSIDERED COMMEN THIS I ALREADY KNOW. PEOPLE HAVE CLAIMED TO HAVE THIS EXACT SAME ERROR BUT NOBODY HAS COME FORTH WITH ANY PHOTOS OR SALES OF THEIR COINS. APPRECIATE THE BEAUTY AND PERFECTION OF THIS ERROR. I HAVE HAD A LOT OF PEOPLE INTERESTED IN THIS COIN BUT THIS COIN WILL MAKE IT'S WAY TO THE RIGHT PERSON TO ENJOY JUST AS I HAVED ENJOYED OWNING THIS COIN. THIS COIN IS ONE OF THOSE THINGS YOU OWN IN LIFE THAT REALLY DOES MAKE FOR GREAT CONVERSATION. A LOT OF FOLKS LOVE TO TALK ABOUT THIS COIN.

Well, it IS an interesting error. And he is not calling it a 1990. He is saying the 1990 part, ie the 199 is missing, which it is. 80 grand? Nope. 80 bucks? Perhaps.

Unless it is listed in the wrong category ebay's free listing does not apply to coins (as I found out when selling one of my MOD sets) and it costs the seller $1 every time it is relisted.

If the seller is scamming the system the flag away and report it.

As I have said before the free listings policy of ebay in the last year or 2 has flooded the market with junk across all collectibles markets.

It is a neat coin. A Lexus is a lot neater though.

It is a talking piece, but a $80,000 talking piece? No way.

Fifty cents maybe a dollar at most. Grease Filled Die errors are very common. This one may have a little interest since the date is the only thing involved and it now has a clear date of 9.

Usually it is the words Charter Oak that fill on this issue.

Grease struck through coins are pretty common. Worth a few bucks or so. Not worth the grading fees !! LOL

Something like- "Did I ever tell you about the time that I spent $79,990 too much for a coin?"

Makes you wonder where they came up with the price tag? Wonder if they even bothered to get any input on it.
