Hello Everyone,
I was hoping I could get a second opinion on this 1972
Lincoln Penny. It seems to have some doubling on the obverse side
where it reads, In God We Trust.I'm fairly new to coin collecting
and would appreciate a second opinion whether I'm seeing double or not.
Thanks,
Fernando

I could be mistaken but it looks like DDO fs#1-033.58 or maybe .53 and in the conditions your's is it's probably worth $1 max. Looks pretty beat up.

That is a doubled die, and is very likely one of the known lesser dies, either #3 or #8. The coin is roughly EF45, and would sell in the neighborhood of $10 if offered at retail. The values of the 1972 doubled dies have gone up considerably in the last 5-10 years. Die #2 is now worth what die #1 was worth in 1990 - about $200. Dies #3 and #8 commonly sell for $30-$50 in BU. These used to be $5 coins in BU if that, but not any more.

I have a collection of these, missing #4 and #1 and maybe #9. They are fun to collect and even funner when you find them! I almost had a #4 but some @#$@#$@# came in the last second and got it for $80. Congrats on the find! Check out Charles' site to figure out which one you have.
