Lots of stuff going on with the mm on this coin. I want to think rpm, but can'f find anything close at cc or ebook. Any ideas or look familiar to anyone? Thanks!

Jprine, the rim looks to me like a misaligned die. You sir, are certainly the RPM expert. It looks like a RPM to me also. If you can't find it on Copper Coins or Ken Potter Variety Coins or Wexler, etc. Maybe you should send the picture to Wexler and see what he thinks.

I agree I can find nothing already documented on this using said resources. The closest I've found was listed here on CCF a year ago on a 1970S SD, which this one is not.

The punch was thought to be damage.

The mark to the West looks like a possible polish line, but could be wrong. Also see no notching or distinct separation.

If anybody else I'd say wait for "jprine" to comment, but wait that's not an option. Thanks, Doug.

Edit: Added link nice 3D image of MM.

Strange one. I've never seen this. Can you take another image of the MM at a slight angle?

Here are some angled pics (not very good). Maybe this helps!

I'm probably wrong but it kinda looks like the normal damaged MM punch was used and then the coin took a slight hit on the MM? Maybe coop can shed some light on this one?

When you open the coppercoins page to the 1970-S RPMs and doubled dies, you see the same thing going on with the damaged punch on them. When looking at different denominations you would probably see that on them as well. The die is also in the LDS range when your coin was struck, so any field polishing/damage on the die would also show up as raised the coin. I would save it for now until we find out more about it. (just in case)
