I was going through some old rolls and found this 95 ,I thought it was PMD at first and put it aside, but thought id have a second look. the rim seams to be thinner than the face of the coin in places.the obverse and reverse don't have alot of wear , the rim seems to be pressed rather than scrapped and there is a double raised edge around the entire outside of the rim like a railroad track. Could this be the result of a miss strike .Any ideas

Looks like it was struck out of collar ...so, broadstrike.

Not entirely sure...

Waiting for confirmation...

I feel that the rim of the coin has been pressed and not file or ground. Filing or grinding would have damaged both faces of the coin not just the rim. Also I don't feel filing or grinding would have left an even double edge ( Wagon tracks) on the entire edge, they may have left a burr on one side .I'm not saying it's not PMD but my 30 plus years of metal working says it not filing or grinding.

What does it weigh? The rim phenomena you show can happen any number of ways, bezel mounting, etc... It was definitely (originally) struck in collar - the 12 sided shape of the 1-cent in those years came from the collar die.

To me, it looks like it was caught in some kind of machinery... something strong enough to create the long striations we see...

Hi SPP, it weighs 2.4 grams sane as a normal 1995 according to my scale. The striations on both sides are in line with each other .Whatever caused this looks to have been machined . It's also.a little thinner on the one side of the rim than the other 1.08mm, 1.16 on the other, so it was struck a little harder on the one side. Also the center of the coin is 1.10mm so filing or grinding would definitely have damaged the faces of the coin.
