Did this happen after it was holdered? Doesn't seem to have a cause for that.

the technical grade was correct when certified and the coin then turned while encapsulated. chances are there were no signs of corrosion when certified or even happened from the place it was stored. it is a technical 65 or at least it WAS. it is now a details coin with corrosion and worth a ton less assuming any one would even want it. all I can say is that a responsible, honest dealer would send it out for conservation and eat any loss.

side note, I wouldn't be surprised if in another scenario where the coin was sent in with the spots that they would call it ms 64/65 with a corrosion comment...which IMO is wrong to do.

Looks like PVC damage, and likely that occurred after holdering. I actually bought a beautiful rainbow toned 1902-H MS-65 ICCS graded 5 cent not too long ago, that has developing corrosion below the bust of Edward VII that most certainly had developed after the coin was holdered, ended up returning that one. Unfortunately ICCS holders are not as safe as PCGS/NGC holders and ICCS does not offer the same guarantees as far as damage for coins, so I think the seller will be out in the rain for this one.

ICCS flips, as well as PCGS and any other coin slabs, are NOT impermeable to water vapour. This is why controlling the humidity where your collection is stored, is so important!!

Looks like an older certification.
You cannot see any of the number behind the coin
so it is probably an older two letter number in which
the coin has deteriorated over time.
I wonder what ICCS would grade it at now?
