The severe rim bumps lead me to believe this coin may have once circulated in Mexico, where hurling such down onto a hard surface to test the ring was a common practice.

Appears to me to be the O/S variety, which is the sole reason I plucked it out of the cull bin.

Maybe a VAM-4 LDS. Even in this condition it deserves a good home.

There is no way I could let this one sit in the cull bin. I just bought an 82 o/s variety to add to my collection.

Nice pick up Lucky Cuss.

Even if I was going to gold plate it and make it into a belt buckle?

VG details - due to the rim bumps. Glad she found a nice retirement home!

Interesting - had never heard that story about testing the ring in Mexico.
