Should I have this one slabbed?
I would grade around XF45. I am not sure what value the doubling adds.
What is the consensus.

This is a nice coin that I think would grade AU-50 or better for detail. The distracting scratches by Liberty's mouth and above the eagle's right (facing) wing might be severe enough to get a problem grade (i.e., "scratched") from a grading service.

Heritage mentions that the Plain 4 Classic half eagle is known to occur with 8 separate die varieties. Your photo doesn't show the date clearly but I assume any doubling on the 4 is characteristic of one or more of the die varieties. I doubt that this feature would add anything to the potential value of the coin. If however it were to slab as a problem-free AU at PCGS or NGC it would be much easier to sell for a good price.
