I have this coin and I am assuming it's a token. I have no idea of its origins but I suspect that it's British. Any insight or ideas into its background would be appreciated.

does the reverse have the same design, is it blank, or can you post a picture of the reverse

Hi Petrus, thanks for the link and it lists John May as a watchmaker, jeweller and silversmith. This is the first time I have seen a connection to the name.
