I was leaving some seller feedback today, and after checking the "Positive transaction" box, a question drops down and asks, 'if the package arrived within the estimated delivery time?' I thought this was a good thing. It can help identify poor shipping practices by USPS etc, sellers that are slow to ship, and maybe even that ebay might have to adjust some of their estimated arrival dates.

I got that last night also. Mine actually came a day early. It is probably a better measure than the subjective "How fast was the item shipped". Everyone wants it right now and at zero cost...

Quote: Everyone wants it right now and at zero cost... One that gets me is when shipping abroad a buyer asks, after they've bought and paid, to under-declare the value of an item. I'm an amateur seller, so I don't think its wrong not to know every country's regs. I recently got my first ever negative feedback in 4 years of selling after I refunded a buyer that I had no legitimate option for shipping to (I wouldn't under-insure, nor would he pay the higher price that other services cost.) Either way he was set on thinking the sale had to work.

Most sellers I deal with have shipped within 2 business days of the auction close. After that it's all the USPS. I have had packages arrive very late due to routing errors by the USPS but I still leave positive feedback with 5 star delivery performance as you cannot ding the seller.

I noticed the change last week. I'm not sure what results will take place from the question, but it probably can't hurt.
I got five different deliveries in the last 5 days, and all of them came within the correct time schedule. I've even had an item I bought Saturday morning delivered to me today! I am expected to leave a poor grade later this week for a seller I paid June 20th who hasn't mailed the item yet.

I think it's unfair to rate a seller based on delivery time. If ebay lists delivery for first class to be 3-7 days for example and USPS takes 11 fays to deliver, the seller shouldn't be penalized for it. Much rather, the seller should be only judged on his/her proactiveness to ship the item within the time they have mentioned.

the delivery estimates are only that, estimates. ebay should remove that feature from feedback , as well as shipping fees.. a buyer purchases an item knowing upfront what the shipping fees are, they should not be allowed to rate shipping fees..unless someone pays for tracking and just gets a stamp on their package..buyers seem to forget that between ebay and paypal , sellers' lose 10% for fees. so we have to add that to the shipping cost, and most of us lose money on bubble shippers and supplies on top of that.

Now that I think of it, ebay should already know the answer to the question for any package that had a tracking number. The shipping date and delivery date is documented, and ebay already knows their estimated delivery dates.........so now I'm not exactly sure what they are asking.

Remember a few yrs ago you would see a $1000 item with a buy it now of $10 and shipping was $990. This thread made me think of that. You don't really see it anymore but I think it was because ebay didn't take a percentage of shipping fees back then

Well, I just left a bunch of seller feedback, and the question appeared on all the items with tracking numbers.
