I believe this nickel may have a struck through. It goes from the left (with a possible remnant still in the M) to the F in OF. What leads me to believe this is struck through is the S in CENTS was stamped after the possible struck through was made. Any impressions?

Could we get a close up of the possible struck through area? My first thought is this is just a streak of toning, but a close up might be able to help us figure it out better.

See how the S is fully formed. Not a strikethrough

I'm thinking this is an improper mixture of metals. Fairly common with these older nickels from what I have seen. What year is it by the way? 40s/50s?

The streak appears to be incuse. Does that rule out an improper metal mixture?
