Hey Everyone, This one just arrived from a large lot I won from a German Auction. The coin looks to be in good condition. I'm a little worried about the authenticity of the piece so wondering what people think about that and the grade: Thanks

I don't like the date, the mushiness of the denticles, and LIBERTY.

At first it looked like a nice original AU-55, but after looking closely at the date and lettering my feeling is this one is not genuine.

The second I saw the mushy reverse, red flags went up.

Sorry , but it looks fake to me too. You know; the pathetic thing about our hobby is :we have to look around the corner too much to catch any scammers and swindlers . And it's only going to get worse.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Good lesson here in Auction houses can be fooled by these pieces like anyone, even reputable ones. Coin will be sent back to them.

It was part of a lot of US coins - included some Morgans, a couple commemorative halves. Total was 250 Euro but was mainly driven by the 1894 half to buy the lot.

Make sure you get a full refund including fees. The damage to their reputation if word gets out that they missed a forgery will far exceed the monetary cost of making it right by you.
