Please give me your opinion of this 1868 Half. I found the golden toning around the edges appealing.

The scans are too small and low in resolution to make a sound judgement. The detail appears to be near mint state and I'll add that type of toning is indicative of a cleaned coin that is just beginning to re-tone. Not saying that's the case with this coin but it's often the case when you see light rim toning on 19th century silver coins.

Looks AU-55 easy for detail. At that level of preservation there should be lots of mint luster, especially around the rims between stars and letters. Your shots don't really show any luster, although that could be due to poor photos. If luster is as weak as the photos suggest however I'd guess the coin has been dipped to the point that luster has been badly degraded.

Scanner photos?

If so, they make it hard to see luster. If it's lustrous.. I want it. LOL. mid grade MS if no wear.

From what I see I see a solid MS-62 Coin, any luster would be a huge bonus for me.
If it is really dull though then?

Thanks for the feedback! I will post new pictures shortly, have had a crazy week at home. I will try and get better pics on my phone.

I'm still learning about luster and cleaned coins so I appreciate all feedback. IMO the coin does have luster in the fields on the obverse.

I am not sure if these images are any better, I took them with my phone. Again I am still new and learning and I need all the help I can get. I may need to find a better way of getting photos of my coins online.

MS-64, album toned.

Drop dead gorgeous.

Anyone want to take a shot on if it's a retoned dipped specimen?
