Hello, looking for someone to shed a little light on what I do have forsure. Please! I have a circulated 1972 S Lincoln Penny that I believe is a DDO? If you look at the 2 in the date it looks either like another number possible letter or twice stamped maybe? also along his back looks like a DDE If anyone has a answer for me an could tell me how collectable this is from a scale of 1 to 10 that would be great. I need to stop saving so many penny's as I have way way way to many of them. Thank you an do appreciate your time an help. Kim

Hi here are a few more pics. I am having a hard time bringing them up closer without distorting them to where they are blurry. Maybe the 19,the t in trust may be dd an libe as well but I'm just not sure. When I look at them from the side view they do looked raised very little. I can try to take the picture with my camera I used my scanner for these pics

If you have a phone with a camera, then that is usually better than scans.

We would prefer if you refrained from yelling totosue.

It looks like it could be Die Deterioration and or Machine Doubling. These are both worthless. You also hve to take into consideration that the hub that created 1972 cents was a doubled hub.

You know I did go an read as much as I could on the doubled die an how it works with the hubbing process an how the doubled master die was produced after the master die was produced an I did seem to understand some of it an see the illustrations but I did not see any of them that would even resemble the 2 in my date. Correct me if I'm wrong (an I probably am) when you talk about the master die doing this then that means all the coins would be the same because it came from the master die that was made or changed correct? I could see maybe some of the other lettering in Liberty falling that way but the 2 is so strong. Sorry just trying to understand this. Thanks again Kim

In regards to the 2 and 7 for that matter, they took a hit so it is damage aka PSD. The master die was doubled so the dies made from that doubled master die will be doubled as well as the coins made from the working die.
