Take a look in the Grading forum.

Okay, I decided to pull the trigger on a coin I saw on ebay that didn't sell and bought it from the dealer directly. I was a little hesitant because the prices have rapidly risen since the last time I bought this coin. I'm paying double for it now but I haven't bought anything in awhile and I deserved a little "treat"

Can you guess what I bought (and for once you can cross off any 3CN as your guess)? I won't receive it until next week. I'm hoping it's as decent as the dealer described it in hand. I won't hesitate to send it back if there's any issues with it, though.

Here are the hints, plus for those still learning about the hobby this should read as a "guide" for the optimal in circulated material:

Some consider this a key date/mint for the series. I do not, but it is a nice coin to have.
Completely original surfaces.
"Gem circulated" condition (based on dealer's description) - no blemishes or "but's".
In a third-party grading service (TPGS) holder and UNDERGRADED by virtually any standard, in my opinion.
In demand and very difficult to find in the above noted condition.

What is it?

Pix will come next week after I get it (and hopefully keep it...fingers crossed!).

I'll give ya another huge hint...you guys are guessing in the wrong century!

Under $1000.

Also, it's in a middling circulated grade.

Copper, nickel, silver or gold ?

Business, proof or pattern ?

Right idea, Ken....wrong series. That's definitely a coin that I'm always on the look out for in VF-AU with a decent strike and great surfaces. It's near impossible to find it, though.

Makes me think it's copper, since it's known that the TPGs are inconsistent in grading them.
