I've never bought individual Lincoln cents at my LCS before. I grabbed a couple cheap ones I didn't have. I don't know if it's ever a good idea to buy them like that, and I can't tell grading. Did I do OK for paying $1.25 on the 1927 and $2 on the 1932? Grading opinion? Ideas for better ways to buy if it wasn't good?

You did okay, but the prices are fairly typical for these coins at these grade levels. Keep at it.

Is there a way to not get a bunch of only new penny rolls or is it totally random? I haven't tried crh yet but I assume I'll just get all new stuff...

I would put them both around VF-20. You paid right around market price, so ok buy. Nice eye appeal in my opinion so I think you did good.

FYI - this thread should be in modern coins, not classic

Thanks KenKat, and noted on LWCs being modern.

Those are nice coins. The important thing is that you're happy with them.

If you intend to buy your wheaties one or two at a time, I think shopping at your local coin shop is fine.

I don't know what you mean by 'new penny rolls'. Are you looking for 2015's or rolls of wheaties? If it's wheaties, try Northern Illinois Coin and Stamp. There is a store online and you can buy uncirculated wheaties by the roll or you can buy circulated rolls of mixed dates (within one decade). The dealer makes it clear that there will not be any key dates in those rolls -- so they are searched and sorted and you know what you're getting.

Have fun at the coin show!
Rest in Peace

You can probably get better deals on e-bay for Wheaties. singles or rolls, there are thousands of listings.

I work at a place with cash handling and all I seem to see are 2010+ bu rolls of change. Nothing interesting ever broken open at the till. That's what I wouldn't want to search for crh. We use US Bank. But would they ever give me anything different if I went and asked on my own?

If you know the tellers, ask if their counting machines have reject trays. You'll find all sorts of interesting things in there when they come and service the machines, and you can have the teller put them aside for you.

Hmm, we don't get change that often for me to be pals with them, but I could still ask. Would that be their counting machines you're referring to?
