perhaps you should have your son save up money he would normaly use for other things until he has enough to get it certified. If he adds up the opportunity costs (what he would give up)he may end up getting what he wants and a good economics lesson at the same time. maybe I should save my coin money for spelling lessons

My rule of thumb $150 FMV for coin submission. This coin would qualify.

I stopped by two local coin shops this week. One told me it is EF-AU and the other gave AU grade..

Personally I'd call it AU58 details. Don't think it would get a straight grade. Probably not worth PCGS. I just sold one to a dealer in a similar condition for $140.

I just renewed my PCGS membership and have a voucher for 8 coins. I guess I will send it in with the voucher.

I think that is a fair grade.
Are you happy with the grade?

ANACS is the way I'd go with this one.

It is a fair grade. I don't collect US coins so this was bought by my son and this is a good lesson for him. Will ANACS give MS grade?

It was not a good bet from the start.

For details coins, ANACS assigns a numerical grade, unlike NGC and PCGS who assign a "Details" grade with a general condition description (in your case, "UNC")

I agree with Coinfrog ... not a good submission. It would look better in an album, enhancing a set. Coins like this make sets easier to sell, too.
