There are areas around the outside devices where the copper has pealed back. Is this PSD?

I am confused about the lack of plating around the bust.

I realized that after I posted. At first I thought you were talking about the lack of plating to the left of the letters in Liberty

I don't smoke, but I wonder if someone used a lighter to burn the coin? Coin will get hot though.

And the copper expanded? I don't know. I just think it is weird that the copper also split in other areas around the devices.

It's very possible this is one of the exact cents I found at the beginning of the year, but I doubt it. I opened about $25 worth of CWR that were probably stored for many years. All the coins dated pre-1993, and had this wild zinc look to them. I'll post them on this thread or a different one.

I think it's just from the air that has gotten in over time.

I saved several of them and I think I put one in a 2x2 to preserve it just because I thought it was unique.

I later dumped them at a bank, so it's very possible they recirculated, someone got it in change, and then flew out to california LOL...
