martyglo New Member United States 8 Posts	Posted 07/29/2015 5:32 pm it is not dirty, I believe it was minted that way, it's a beautiful piece, a matte finish with smooth rim...but dark gray, I have never seen one like this...any ideas where to look this up? thank you Report this Post to the Staff

It's not unusual, probably just from being in dirty environments for decades and that dirt was worn into the coin, as you can tell your Merc is worn especially the reverse. not a mint error !
