There'd seem to be a very low probability that any of these are genuine, but the quality of their manufacture has become scarily good.

I'd simply remark that while there are certainly even more deceptive forgeries out there, these current "run of the mill" Chinese ones are still far more competently executed than many prior iterations, and while not good enough to fool the advanced collector, are nevertheless sufficiently convincing to take in the less numismatically sophisticated buyer, especially in the secondary mrketplace where their origin will not be obvious.

Top rated seller in Spain, not priced too suspiciously at almost $220 U.S. - I'd concede that's "dangerous". Can you share specifcally what about the coin is tipping you off?

Overall dull look of the coin's surface, most denticles missing, soft design (not sharp), no distortion from the rim pattern visible, possible casting bubbles (a bigger picture would be needed to confirm) and the fact that I'm used to see those :D

Presuming it's a phony, you're thinking modern forgery as opposed to contemporary counterfeit, then?

I agree, these coins look off somehow, like a lot of the current Chinese counterfeits. Details are all there but not sharp looking, all the coins have the same washed out look. Can't say for sure off a photo, especially an ebay photo, but I would pass on all of these.

What about the date? Is that 1752? Is that an upside-down 5?
