I don't think so. I think it's damage.

The problem is - I cannot find evidence of the damage - even under 60x magnification! You might expect this kind of thing to be produced by a hit on the edge of the rim, but there is none. Or it could be something like a pressure ridge from a hit on the rim - like a cut lengthwise along the rim, but there is no evidence of that. There are some dings which cut across the rim, but they are in the wrong position and relatively small. The problem with calling it a Cud is that it does not actually go all the way to the outer edge of the rim. The portion facing in towards the center of the coin has the semi elliptical shape that rim Cuds frequently have, however. So all this is why I am still confused about what this is.

That is why I am asking the question. Except for the fact that it does not go all the way to the rim, the inner portion does resemble other rim Cuds I am familiar with. Of course, most of those are on large cents, but they can also be seen on JFKs in the Cuds website:

It may well be a rim Cud. There a pears to be a die crack running up onto the anomaly on its north side.

It does appear to be a rim Cud. I am judging its appearance in comparison to the other rim Cuds found on Kennedy halfs. It will be listed as CU-50c-1973D-02R Rim Cud.

Thanks for the images.
