I actually was window shopping for a change. Not really buying anything except looking for 2015 Jefferson's to update my set and none to be found.
There were some that jumped out on tables that I found exciting and interesting and had a nice time talking about them with the dealers while looking at them.
First one was a 1793
US Half Cent with a $4500. price tag. It was VF35 with environmental damage but then don't most have that anyway?
Very nice example and I would love to have one but then ... You can't have everything.
Next was a 1883 With Cents Proof Cameo
V nickel. To me this was an amazing looking coin. I didn't ask a price but fondled that for awhile and got that dealers card.
Another fella had heaps of early copper. He was from Albany NY and he gave me a lesson on an electrotype Fugio Cent.
I was also shown some amazing fractional currency specimens. Super crisp and learned that they were printed with a blank back and sent to banks so the banks would recognize them when encountered. That dealer told me they were much more scarce than the real thing.
I bought my raffle tickets, paid my yearly coin club dues and had a couple BBQ sloppy joes and left without buying a coin but for me it was a great "coin show". I don't think I ever went to a coin show without buying anything before.
