I went to the safe deposit for some searching through come old rolls of 40% I keep there.
I have a stereoscope that lets me find details rather easily. I have a bit of experience with JFK DDOs, so I know what I am looking for.
I don't have pics b/c my camera is acting up
Out of a roll of 1965s, just under half of them had split serifs on at least one or two letters. Typically the T in TRUST has a left (viewer looking at it) serif, the Y in LIBERTY has two, and/or the U in TRUST has two on top.
Only one
DDO had any that was what I considered to be a decent one, while the others are minor. The decent one had split serifs on a lot of the letters and minor doubling on the 965. The decent one (is strong on UST though.
Another roll of 67s yielded about the same - but not a "good"
DDO. There were quite a few with minor split serifs on the top of the U in TRUST. The doubling was duplicated on a couple (same die) and a bit different on another.
The Cherry Picker's lists only one 67 with doubled stars on the REV. I found one like in the book, three others with doubled stars directly above the eagle, and another couple where the stars either on the top or on the bottom are doubled. Again though - almost half the roll!
When I get a way to get some pics, I will also post some I am questioning as to double ears and double profiles. I find a lot of double ears - but only the inside part of the ear is dubled. one of the 67s had a triple profile.
Hoping to get some more to try to look for varieties.
