ANACS also does more variety attributions w/o prompting. Their fee-based service also covers more than the other two. Quoting (http://www.anacs.com/contentPages/Services.aspx):

Quote:
Variety/Attribution/Error Research/Verification
Verification of varieties and other well-documented attributions. This includes VAM numbers, Overton numbers, Fivaz-Stanton varieties, Sheldon and Newcomb numbers, Cohen, Bolender, Breen, Flynn, Snow and more. Simply list the variety number to be verified in the space provided on the ANACS submission form. The ANACS graders will verify your attribution, and the variety designation, if correct, will be placed on the ANACS label. This service is an additional $7 per coin. In the event you do not know the attribution, if you request it, ANACS will research it for you. Simply write "Attribute" in the space provided on the ANACS submission form. This service is an additional $12 per coin.

I was going to send some really high grade nickels in, but I guess not. And a few cent varieties and such.

SSK, if you sign up for emails from ANACS, I think they call it the "insider deal" or something like that, well they offer two free gradings periodically (I think 3 or 4 times a year - usually around holidays - Christmas and 4th of July are two that I know for sure). Although you still have to pay postage and insurance fees, it is still a nice deal.

I took advantage of the 2 free to piggyback off a submission of somewhat lower grade material.

My primary set is circulating coinage as of 8am 11 February 1861. So I have some inexpensive half-dimes, even a Canadian penny, etc. - the bulk of the set is NGC/PCGS graded and I just didn't like the look of the black Everslabs along side. It was also some of the first material I had bought when I was restarting collecting and, well, a few fleas among the dogs. The ANACS slabs look fine as part of the set, the coins are protected and I really can't argue with more than one of the grades (7-1 is not a bad record).

I think they'll pretty much print anything on the label. I have an 1865 3CN obverse and reverse clashes, 180 degree die rotation. Let's see if they can squeeze all that on the label
