You've seen my 1874 Dollar coin in the grading section and I'm thinking of getting it graded. Well, more of just getting it authenticated and graded, but I just want to know if it's authentic. I've seen ANACs and how they are the cheapest of the big 3, but what about ICG? Are they any good? They seem to be even cheaper than ANACs. But anyways, besides the cost of grading the coin, what about other things like postage? How much would that add up to? All help is absolutely needed here, as I've never sent a coin in for grading.

Grade it yourself or with help from the forum.
It really isn't difficult.

If you have any local coin shops close by take the coin to them for an opinion in person. And some are members of NGC / PCGS companies and may be able to submit your coin for you. And yes ICG is a respected coin grading company. Second tier perhaps but very respected.

For a coin like your 1874 dollar I'd recommend ANACS. Cheap and a quick turnaround time. If it comes back counterfeit then take the coin and the ANACS paperwork back to the dealer you bought it from and ask for a refund.

With PCGS and NGC you'd pay more money and have a longer turnaround time. With ANACS you can submit coins directly with no middle man or membership. With PCGS and NGC you gotta do some hoop jumping.

You can visit each grading company web site and determine your costs according to the service tier you desire.

Don't forget to include shipping costs and state taxes.
