Mint mark position is different. Can't match up to any on CC. Circulation wear may be making things look wider? Thanks, Doug.

I agree this is not hub doubling, but circulation flattening. They way to tell is to look at the 44 in the date. On the class 6 doubled dies, not just the 9 is affected, but also the 4's. Here is an example:

Notice the normal date on the upper left. Not the straight upright lines on the 44? Then compare the other 44's in the other three images. Note that the stronger the hub doubling the uprights are more affected?

On th OP coin, the bottom left on the fours looks notched?

John 1 , what you are seeing is engraving doubling. Here is a pic of my 1944D-1DO-011, the same coin as one of the examples that Coop posted but a much earlier die state. Note the doubling in the same position. Die state, as shown, can have a dramatic effect on the engraving doubling seen on 44's.
