Woo Hoo! I finally obtained the last piece needed for my Canadian Cent collection, an 1858 Large Cent from the Tempe AZ coin show. I have a hard rule of no more than $50 US for any one coin, and got the 1858 in what looks like VF condition for $40. I am only missing 3 silver 5C coins, the 1875, 1884 and 1921. While I doubt I will ever own a 1921 I might splurge one of these days for the others. I am also only missing the 2006 RCM large 5C to complete that series. As far as larger silver coins I only collect post 1953 for the most part and am only missing the 2012 Olympics dollar. I might start working back on some of these. I don't concern myself with error or variation coins like the Arnprior dollar or "low date" type things but if I find an affordable verified variety to fill a slot I will get it.

Obtaining some of the 1920's small cents for less then $50 must have been a challenge. Congratulation!

Quote: Obtaining some of the 1920's small cents for less then $50 must have been a challenge. All except 1 or 2 of my first collection of Canadian Small Cents were found in circulation or from roll hunting, I only bought a couple, like the 1922 and 23. I actually found a 1920 in a roll I got from a bank in SSM years ago. I have since replaced some of the found cents with some nicer purchased ones so I put together a second book of Small Cents, so I actually have 2 complete collections of them now.

very nice ! I thought I had mine complete for about a year until I realized my 1900 had a "H" on it. I was new to collecting when I bought it and was looking for the H under the date (like a 1907H)

thats awesome, now if you want a bit more of a challenge try what I am trying and that is to try to get as many different varieties for each year that you can find

I would Gidjit, but I have a hard time discerning the minute differences in variations so gave up on that. I figured it would be more fun to start working back on the higher value coins now that I have completed the Cents are (for all intents and purposes) 5 Cents. I look at varieties pretty much the same way as I do non-circulation commemoratives; nice to have but unneeded.
I will get some pics up soon.
