I propose that we try to spend $1000 dollars worth of pennies. Let's see how long that takes. Dumping coins in the bank not included.

OK, let's do it!

I spent 2 cull IHCs this morning, which I try to do every week. For a change (no pun), the gal at the register looked at them quickly and just shrugged.

By dumping coins in the bank not included, I mean that if you put coins in the bank or coinstar, it doesn't count.

So with "$1000 dollars" (1000 dollars dollars), does that mean 10,000,000 cents?

Personally, I'm not interested in this one as I am in the camp of doing away with the Lincoln Cent, but have fun!

I never. and I mean never, spend change. That penny I just gave the teller could be the reason the guy behind me gets a 1909 S VDB in his change and I didn't.

Seems better to receive change than to give it.

When I was always eating fast food and hitting the drive-thru a lot, I would always pay in exact change. I knew the exact total for all my favourite meals and places. I am sure the people behind me appreciated it.

Of course, all of that change was checked beforehand.

Now I generally eat a lot better and do not use cash as often as I had in the past. It has changed the way I collect coins, but not for the worse, in my opinion.

Whenever I receive a penny, it goes in my change cup and once it looks like it's flooding with them, I'll count them out and roll them off to my dump bank.

I don't think I've ever spent a penny

Jbuck, I too know some exact values of fast food orders!

Also, $1000 in cents would be 100,000 wouldn't it? Just add two 0's to the 1000?

Correct Duncan! John1 has the 10,000,000 in hand at the moment (4,000,000 down and 6,000,000 to go).

I do spend change that I've checked and cleared for spending. I'll often give change in a transaction to generate 'new' change. Even the soda machine: 3 quarters and 3 dimes to generate a nickel. I've received silver and buffalo doing that on a few occasions. As for cents, I generally spend nickels and dimes and quarters to generate 'new' cents to check. But I don't spend cents. Instead, they go into a container or two to be used as replacement coins during a CRH cents event.

I'd like to help the cause here...but I just cant do it!!

Yes, but CK was picking at the duplication of dollars in the notation. $1000 or 1000 dollars, but not $1000 dollars.
