I found this 1970-D quarter two weeks ago in a roll of quarters. It have a copper rim with a really thin clad layer.

I don't know. Maybe a magician coin. Also, what is the weight? If you drop it, does it come apart?

The obverse rim was removed, probably with a grinder.
Rest in Peace

with grinder. There is a small amount of material folded over at the top edge of the obverse which is consistent with a grinder wheel rotating towards the center of the coin.
