I bought an almost full set of nickels from a coin store for only $30. It had some uncirculated War Nickels, lots of proofs, and uncirculated 1938 PDS, 1939 PDS and many more uncs. I suspect the 1938 is a MS 67 proof. Did I get a good deal? The worst coin in the 1938 - 1939 is MS 63.

Sounds like a good deal.

I am curious ... Were these coins graded ... Or who graded them?

You said ALMOST full. What did you mean by that? This could mean lots, some, etc. How many are there. From what year to what year? Were they in a Folder or Album? $30 sounds good but lots depends on just what you got.

That coin alone is a $150 plus coin

Wow! That would be a terrific pickup by itself. The 1939D is likely a near $30 coin on its own.

Can't wait to see the pics!! This could be an epic buy!
Rest in Peace

I think there's something wrong here., now we really need to know exactly what was in that album.
I don't know of any coin store ( COIN SHOP )that would sell this lot for $30.

I bought a nickel set about a year ago that was 1938-1965 complete for about $38 for comparison purposes, although not in the higher grades like you describe.

I don't know who would put a 1938 proof in an album like that though. Sounds kinda strange.

There are proofs in the wrong slots too. Like in 1959, instead of a regular coin, they put a proof.
