Hello Everyone. I am pretty new at collecting but old coins have always fascinated me. I use to own a retail store and was always checking the coins for anything different and found a few silver quarters, dimes, wheat pennies and silver dollar certificates. Some where I have a steel penny. inherited a couple gold coins from my father-in-law, one is an 1852 tiny tiny gold coin. Don't know what denomination it is. In 1988 we purchased two gold coins from the 1715 Fleet of wrecks that were salvaged. Mine is a one escudo 22K and certificate states date is 1712. It is mounted as a pendant, but I've never worn it. Trying to find out how to determine its current value. No idea where to start. Have a son starting college and thought this might bring a little extra money to help him. Anyone have any experience with this kind of coin. I know there are some on ebay, but what something is listed for and what they sell for are two different things. Thanks for any input.

I am no expert on salvage coins but it is on my bucket list to own one someday. Have you tried searching the "sold" listings on ebay, not just the active ones? Can you post a picture of your coin on the forum here? Good luck to the son and his education

If you can post a photo in the appropriate section you will get opinions on the coins. Condition matters. Don't clean the coins.

Looking forward to seeing the pics.
