I just looked at the sales figures for the 2014 LESP. A bit over 37K and only up 282 from last week. It's been on sale for 5 months and all the previous sets had sold out by then. When this set came out in 2012, it was only slightly overpriced. Now, because of reductions in eagle and silver proof sets prices, it's overpriced by close to $40. That's most likely why it's not doing well.

So what's going to happen with these? Eventually the mint will need to release the 2015 set. Will they keep both active? Will they stop the 2014 set with sales under 40,000? This may be similar to what happened to the American Legacy Sets.

At the very least they need to reduce the price of the 2015 set.

If it were more in line with what the coins are worth, it would make a nice purchase to avoid duplicates when buying both the annual clad and silver sets.

I wish that the US Mint would include at least one unique coin that is only available in this limited edition set. Other world mints like RCM do so with their sets. (I don't see why we can't, too).

The mint should have lowered the 2014 set.

The only reason I have not been buying these sets,
is as others posted, the price is to high and
I already have these same coins in the other sets I buy.

The set looks good but that's a steep price to pay for packaging. However, the mint hasn't budged on any silver product pricing a while that I know of. The 5-oz pucks are particularly painful...

Definitely no! That would be a crap way to compel people to buy the sets. Price them appropriately and they will sell.

As for the silver nickel, I think they should already be included in the silver proof sets along with copper small cents.

I think 2015 will be the last of it. The only salvation would be if the offered it in a unique RP version.

A silver nickel would be nice, but still not worthy of the price difference.

I think the silver nickel would clinch it. Only way to get a unique circ denomination? That coin alone would be worth more than the eagle.

Hmm, you are probably right on this one.

A potentially pleasing possibility to ponder.

Seems to be the pattern... the mint launches a product with rufles and flourishes to great appeal.

A couple years on, having done nothing to promote it except a catalog entry and press release, they stsrt cutting mintages.

A couple more years, and due to lack of interest, the mint ends the series and rolls on to the next hot thing.

We are, what, half way through ATB? One more year of Presidential Golden Dollars?

They are likely working on colorized coins and inclusions (crystals, glass) like all the other world mints are selling.

Yuck. So much for temptation.

That would certainly help me concentrate my funding on the 7070.

That would end it for me.

Agreed. Once I finish off my classics I would finally be able to jump into the deep end of the dark side pool.
