Has anyone resubmitted a coin that came back as "Scratched?" I have one with AU details. It is otherwise a true AU55 or AU58. But the scratch goes from the middle of the coin out to the rim. Yet, it is not so intrusive to the experience of viewing the coin.

Thanks, X.

The only way to answer your question and better evaluate your coin, would be to see some pics.
Obverse and reverse.

If the scratch that the obvious then resubmitting will do you no good, it will return graded AU details.
Rest in Peace

maybe it will warrant cracking out and sending it to another TPG.

If it really bothers you, you will have to find a non details example and then sell the one you have. Otherwise you can just enjoy it as it. That's very personal.

If the scratches are noticeable, no reputable TPG is going to straight grade it.

Often, the rarity of the coin otherwise means you just live with it.. I posted an off-center 3 cent silver in the new coins thread... those are very rare and straight graded super expensive (somebody had a raw one on ebay listed for the last year at $600) so I'm going to just live with the good and bad (https://goccf.com/t/102046&whichpage=213#1998883)

I had a coin graded MS details "Scratch" that turned out to be a die crack instead.
I gave this particular coin away to an error collector so it will be appreciated for what it is

I have also had a few other coins come back with the "Scratch" designation where the scratch is pretty much invisible and doesn't detract from the eye appeal of the coin.
I have also had them graded "Scratched" where the scratch is plainly obvious and I have simply missed it when Pre Grading the coin before adding it to a submission.

Regardless of all this a scratch is a scratch no matter how insignificant it is and I would much rather it was picked up by PCGS than have some disgruntled collector notice the scratch later on
