Presidential Dollar Error? - Coin Community Forum

Craftworker Valued Member United States 87 Posts	Posted 08/26/2015 8:14 pm I have a UNC 2013 Presidential dollar coin that was in the 2013 Uncirculated set. It has a "gouge" on the obverse near the rim. I don't know if it is a rim bur or something else. The "W" in Woodrow has been struck on the gouge telling me the gouge is pre strike. Any ideas as to what it might be if not what I think it is? This is a definite gouge. Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 08/26/2015 9:07 pm When a scrape happens on the coin, the bottom incuse line will be straight and flat. Yours looks like it is rounded in the bottom of the incuse area. scratch: Struck through wire: The bottom of the line is rounded.
