Die Crack, Interior Die Break, Retained Cud, Bad Hair Day, or something else? All opinions are welcome, thank you.

It's not a Cud, it doesn't enter the rim. The area over the ear looks like a lamination error, a close-up of the top side of the head would be helpful.

It may well be a lam, but I have literally seen 100's of lams and the characteristics (raised and thick) of this look somewhat different to me. That said, I have been wrong before and I truly appreciate your opinions.

Oh, and timras14, I just pm'd you. Sorry I missed your reply.

Jmo, but I think it's a lam, the raised areas look like lam edges worn since 1952.

I have to wonder how cudsoncoins came to this conclusion. Looks like die cracks to me, but they don't go past the rim of the coin. The 1950's cents are notorious for die cracks on Lincoln's head, that's what I think it is. Yes, I did look at the link and saw it listed on the site.

Myself I'd like to have a definitive answer for future references-I do see a rim to rim die crack with marked vertical displacement as to why the rim is not involved? Not sure if the vertical displacement is enough to warrant Retained Cuds or if rim needs to be involved but I would think so...hmmm
