Seller is selling two 1909s-vdb's with the "s" in different locations, also selling some 1909s Cents & two 1914d Cents with the mint marks in different positions...
I have zero interest in these coins, but do have the Pocket Guide to Counterfeit (key date) Coins from my dealer days years ago, & would recommend anyone collecting the above to first purchase the pocket guide if it is still available... This Guide Displays what the Genuine Key Date Coin looks like & pick-up points to verify if genuine...

If requested, I can post the Cover of the Pocket Guide & the email address listed in the Guide... (Most likely in a new thread)

Is that the title--"Pocket Guide to Counterfeit (key date) Coins"? A quick search at the Amazon(R) e-tailer and using the Google(R) internet search engine wasn't fruitful.

What's the title? thankyouverymuuuuch

Surprised GSC would list that. Jucied photos yes, shill bidders sometimes, but usually the coins are genuine.

Kinda reminds me of this.

Despite my poor overall opinion of this seller, I've been watching them for years and have never heard a hint of this type of deception deliberately, or any aspersions on their quality as businesspersons. They do a *ton* of business, and I've no doubt this one slipped through without notice.

If you choose to politely inform the seller - which is what you do before going off like a grenade and having it pulled - mention that authentic examples use mint marks with serifs. That's all you'll need, and I have no doubt they'll do the right thing.

I agree with Dave.

This is obvious fake, the S is not even close to what it should be.

Gee whiz! I'd never think that I'd see GSC sell something that obviously altered.

Comically bad. Would have spotted this when I was 11 years old.
Rest in Peace

... I always said I don't care for GSC. but I don't believe they would knowingly list fakes.

There are going to be 5 or 6 disappointed bidders who would do better to spend their time here.

Does the VDB on the reverse look a little funky, too? It's awfully light.

I got burned by this seller early on a few years back when I started getting into Seated halves. They advertised a 1861-O Seated half as AU-58. I bought it, got it graded, and came back cleaned. I have learned a lot since then. If this seller is selling something raw, assume it has been cleaned.
