Hi guys, I have this coin of Hadrian. It is a silver denar.
I need price evaluation for this coin since it seems to be extremely rare.

I am posting photos of the coin as well as a scan from John Wilson's work on Roman silver coins.
Sorry that it is in Cyrillic but I am sure you will get it form the coin inscriptions.

Obverse:
IMP. CAESAR. TRAIAN. HADRIANVS. AVG.

Reverse:
FORT. RED.
P. M. TR. P. COS. II.

This is the only coin in this category that has no price set in Wilson's catalog.
Seems that there are only two sources mentioning about this coin - The British Museum Catalog and "Roman Imperial Coinage" by Mattingly & Sydenham.

Welcome to the Forums Emperor. There are quite a few excellent roman coin experts that are around, but unfortunately, I'm not one of them.

Beautiful coin!

Very nice coin, Ancients are hard to grade, if I were to grade this I'd say it's very fine and worth between $150-200.

Though - of course you have already seen Mr Clay's response on Forvm -

"Exactly your coin, valued at a low 2 francs by Cohen 745 and called "Common" by RIC 41, was among the MOST PROLIFIC denarii of Hadrian in the hoard with 91 specimens. Every other large hoard that ever comes to light can be counted on to provide multiple additional specimens of your coin."

Grading has very little meaning in ancients as "strength of strike", "completeness of flan", "how central is the strike?" state of preservation, metal damage, conservation, smoothing etc, etc all contribute to a coins attractiveness. I have to admit that If I see an ancient coin graded I immediately think that it is overgraded simply to try and get a better price. Everything is sold now with a picture so grading is largely superfulous

It's listed in the Sear catalogue (millennium edition) as number 3493, valued at US$75 in VF. It's not the cheapest Hadrian denarius listed, but it's by no means rare.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
