Hello everyone I picked up this Barber dime and I'm wondering if you guys thought it would pass as a fine 12 !! Red Book requires all letters in liberty visible , though some can be weak .. All the letters on this coin are visible but the E in liberty is very weak ... This is a semi key coin and there is a big price difference between vg8 and fine 12 !! So what do you think? Also I keep trying to post questions like these in the coin grading forum but haven't been able to do so as it freezes up and doesn't load ! So I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong place ! *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Better pictures of the whole coin would be helpful here. From what you pictured though 8-10 range is what id be in.

coinguy ; we can't make a grade evaluation without seeing the whole coin both sides. but by the looks of LIBERTY on that coin, it would not be F-12. It's a shame , but rules are rules.

1910s A 10 dollar coin in Vg and 50 in fine 12 I was a bit nervous about buying it with the liberty being so weak !! I'd had sent anacs a 97s and 13s dime a few months ago , the 13s was on the weaker side with a few of the letters only half visible and it luckily made f12. I'm not sure if it's just my photos but the only letter that is hard to make out looking at it in hand with a 10x glass is the E !! So I don't know if it'd make it or not , I didn't post the whole coin because the liberty was my main concern , I will try to get a obverse and reverse photo later .. I've lost a bit of money on this coin I guess , Ah well you win some , you lose some !!

As you can see the coin wouldn't have a problem grading as fine12 if the liberty was strong enough!!

Unfortunately I didn't take those two photos , those were the listing photos and I compared them to these on pcgs photo grade before I purchased the coin .. That's why I thought I'd squeeze in at fine 12..

I'm with a VG-10 overall on this one, there is just a little bit too much wear on the reverse to support a F-12. The obverse I am border line with a weak F-12, but I think the VG-10 is accurate.

The buyer I purchased the coin from didn't have a stated grade , so really it wasn't Anyone's fault but my own !! I didn't pay f12 money for the coin but I guess I was hoping I'd get lucky and it have a touch more detail in hand!! So how would you value a coin like this ? If Vg8 is selling around 8-10 bucks and F12 about 40-50 , then would a vg10 be In the 25 range ?

VG10. Value? $10-$15, $15 being absolute top-end full retail.

I think you are a little better than VG10, so I would have no problem rounding up to F12.

This is one of those inbetweeners. I would grade it 11 if there was such a thing.
