Most of us subscribe to one or more coin magazines and I was just wondering what titles you prefer, and why. Most of the CCF members I've talked with are ANA members, and I know we get The Numismatist each month. Like you, I read all my coin magazines from cover to cover. I fully enjoy each issue of The Numismatist, however there are some articles that are more scholarly than I need and, of course, there are some topics that don't excite me (Boxing tokens?). A recent issue spent page after page re-capping the Nation's 200th birthday coin (and stamp) issues, and I found it rambling and a bit boring. So, assuming many of you subscribe to more than one hobby-related magazine, what do you like, not like, and why? I also subscribe to CoinAge. Jack *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

COINage is a good publication that I have subscribed to in the past. I used to subscribe to COINS magazine as well. These days The Numismatist and Coin World are the only two I receive. There is so much free, and good, information on the Internet that I am considering dropping Coin World next year. I maintain a small numismatic library of about 15 reference books as well.

I've heard of the EAC publication entitled "Pennywise". Don't know if it's worth it or not, but I hear it refrenced from time to time. Maybe an EAC member will chime in. Offering subscriptions to numismatic publications for members like the ANA, EAC etc. do is a stroke of genius.Membershp dues are comparable to a magazine subscription alone. Win/Win.

PennyWise is worthwhile--but that's if you like cents, Half Cents, colonials, and the like. Also, you can get a CD-ROM having all(?) the old issues of PennyWise for perusing during those times when there is too much month left at the end of the monthly numismatic budget. I do CoinWorld, but read much of the CoinWorld stuff on line, often via my mobile device. I do read parts of the print version, but skip articles that I've already read on line. I also use the subscriber on line coin values section as one resource.

When I was a lot younger I regularly got Coins, COINage, and Coin Prices, but never subscribed to any of them. I sometimes miss the simplicity of the magazine days, but today I get more from online sources, CCF in particular.

Exactly Jbuck, CCF is the new 'best' magazine for information!

I will add that in the days before in-flight Wi-Fi, I may have picked up an issue of Numismatic News or Coin World before boarding.

The first physical periodical numismatic publication I have ever purchased is a recent issue of COINAge for a long plane ride a month or two ago. Up until then I have/had gotten all of my numismatic info online. Mostly CCF, but a few other places too. There was an article therein that made me question my U.S Mint purchasing practices. *sigh*

I read the same article C-Knot. I do think that the Mint has forgotten what the coin collecting base began as. They've grown way to big and are out of touch with collectors. Just look at all the various versions of the Silver American Eagle: BUs, Proofs, Reverse Proofs, Enhanced Proofs, Special labels, etc. You could grow broke just trying to get a complete set of a single series. And, the prices are equally insane; nearly $50 for the Kennedy coin & currency set that'll be sold out in the first few days and thereafter on the secondary market at 3 times the price! I think the US Mint is out of touch and has become nothing more than a very high-priced dealer. Jack

Yes, all those gimmicky U.S. mint products are irritating. At least they haven't followed the Canadian mint's lead in coining superman, micky mouse, etc. But I'm sure that is coming.
Why can't the mint do something interesting for a change, like cut off production of the 2016-P dime after making 80,000 of them--instant rarity!
I've stopped reading coin mags, since I discovered CCF.

I dont subscribe to a lot of coin to a lot of coin magazines, but I am subscribed to Coin World, The Numismatist, the OCC News (Omaha Coin Club news, not really a magazine but, hey, it's the no.1 club newsletter in the country!), and those Littleton Coin Company catalogs (i love to laugh at the ridiculous pricing).

I just subscribe to the monthly Coin World issue, which has the "Trends" for all series and a good discussion on grading a different issue each month. I gave up on the weekly CW awhile back - pretty much just filler. The other mags, like CoinAge, are just rags.

I got some catalogs from Littelton after I purchased something from them, but they have ceased to come. Had no idea a real "magazine" existed for coins since it wouldn't have much new information in the short term that hsn't already been gleaned from the internet.
Last magazine I ever had that mentioned coins other than an advertisement to order some sort of coin was Highlights magazine back in the 70s and Boy's Life a bit longer than that.
